I was talking with my mom and I decided that I would spend the next year celebrating as many holidays and occurrences as possible. I think there are around 300 holidays a month!
My mom and I have always loved all the peculiar holidays and have had many laughs discussing them. I think this year will be a lot of fun but it will also require a lot of dedication, time, and it wont be without costs. I will give you once a week up dates once I get it started (Probably next month) and I will post daily journalings as often as possible. I have a feeling I will be rather busy.
I am home schooled which I believe will make this a whole heap easier, but also more challenging. Mom made an agreement with me... For this year I will use this as a lot of my school work. I will be writing reports on many of these days and I will be doing loads of research. I look forward to this coming year and I hope you will enjoy following my blog.
Feel free to post your comments along the way.

Bikini day

I wanted to get a Bikini to put on our dog today but I couldn't find one  cheap enough to justify buying it-especially seeing I would have to cut a tail hole in it. Oh well, I guess that would mean i never really celebrated it...Happy Bikini day any ways.

Wednesday 4 July 2012

Independence Day

 We celebrated Independence day with the Lions Club we had a booth in Wakefield and we made newpaper hats to give out and we had little back packs for kids to decorate. There was also a 50-50 raffle. It was fun. Then once it got dark there were fireworks. We had a blast.

I forgot day

I'll admit that some days when I'm suuuper busy I forget about my holidays.....(Forgive me for my sins...) Well today I forgot until I was ready for bed and I saw my binder sitting there (That's usually when I remember if I have forgotten) and I opened it thinkin to myself  Great! I forgot and it's too late to celebrate any thing well I opened the binder and I had to laugh when I was that it was I FORGOT DAY! So I did celebrate it after all - I was just unaware that I was! I hope you forgot something today, nothing too important though!

Sunday 1 July 2012

Second Half Of The Year Day

Today is the Half a year day...so in Six Months it will be New Years. I'm unsure why but today is actually the new year day for the Lions Club . I found that interesting.
Either way, Happy Half a Year day!

Zip Code Day

Our current Zip code is 03852. It's a kinda neat code because on my keyboard after I hit 0 and 3 all I have to do is go down the middle cause 8, 5, and 2 are one under the other! Though the zip code we had in New York is my favorite because of how simple it is, 12122! And I still get to write it because my one of my best friends (my pen pall) lives there still!
Happy Zip code day!

Thursday 28 June 2012

Recess at work day

As I've said I don't really have a job. I've got my goats and I do some work for my parents busyness's so I did in a way have recess at work but I didn't really work, you followin me? I only worked for about an hour for my parents and I did my goats morning and evening... so in a way I did this one and in a way I didn't. I was thinking about this holiday while I wasn't doing anything so I think that counts....right?

Though if you would like to see some nature photography you can check one of my other blogs, here's a link, I like to put some of my pictures on here. Take a look.

Thursday 14 June 2012

Blood Donner day

Ok, I was planning on donating blood for this holiday but I couldn't because I have Lyme. My mom didn't want me to because she was worried that that much blood being taken out of me would be bad for me because I'm so sick, then we found out by my massage therapist that if someone has Lyme then they can NEVER donate blood because it stays in the blood system once you have it...So I couldn't celebrate that, and I wanted to too! Oh well. Happy Blood Donner day anyhoo.

Bare Foot Day and Hug Your Cat day

Today is Bare foot day- I don;t know if you remember but we have had a couple one day without shoes days...this is different though, this has no cause. The one day without shoes days had a cause - to make people aware of all the kids who have no shoes - this is just to go bare foot! I never object to going bare foot!

And there's another hug your cat day, I hugged mine and my momma's!

Sunday 3 June 2012

I had pictures of us huggin them but for some reason I can't find them....we had a bit of camera trouble so I was wondering if they were just never downloaded. Sorry.

Monday 28 May 2012

Memorial day

Dee (our Grandmother) came up for Memorial day. We had a cook out- actually it was a cook in and eat out! We have no way of cooking 'out' so we cooked burgers on the stove and ate out side under out awning. We didn't feel much like going to the parade this year.
Oh and dad and I made a Chicken coop today! It has nothing to do with Chickens but it's exciting!
Happy Memorial day!

Sunday 27 May 2012

Old-Time Player Piano Week

 May 25-28 is Old Time Player Piano week. Here's our New Player!
You pump the petals to get the player to work. It pushes on bellows that blow air to make the sound come through the roll, very fascinating!
 It doesn't have the player in it right now because it needs repairing but it's still a player piano!

 I REALLY like this piano, It has a very rich, full, deep sound...and even the higher keys are very crisp. ..It's a great piano.  And it seems I'm not the only one who likes it.

Thursday 24 May 2012

Health related monthlies

There are A LOT of health related monthly holidays this month, I have a really boring high school text book called 'Total Health; Choices for a winning life style' so for certain holidays - that have some thing on the health subject that are in this book- I just read about them. I'll list them and give the description that the health book gives.

Arthritis Awareness month
Arthritis: Condition characterized by pain, swelling,  stiffness, and redness in the joints. Also known as inflammation of  a joint or joints.

National Allergy/asthma awareness month
Allergen: A substance to which a person's body is particularly sensitive.
Asthma: A respiratory condition where the air passage in the bronchial tree swell and constrict.

Melanoma/Skin Cancer Detection and Prevention Month
There was a big long section on Melanoma and skin cancer in the book but for some reason there's no definition.

World Lyme Disease Awareness month
I am VERY aware of Lyme disease and I don't need a book to tell me what it's like - I have it and have had it for ten months. I was going to put the definition here any way but again- there is none. Though I do remember the section on Lyme being just a short paragraph.

National Mental Health Month
Ok...so there are way less descriptions than I thought. this one doesn't have one either though it was a long section in the book...what ever!

National Osteoporosis Prevention month
Osteoporosis: A condition that results in a loss of bone tissue.
My dad also had me read an article on osteoporosis that he wrote. He has it on his website some where!

National Blood Pressure month
Blood Pressure: The measure of the resistance to blood flow in the vessels and the efficiency of circulation.

That's it for now, I may add more later though! Sorry for boring you!
Oh, one other thing. Blogger wouldn't let me publish this because there were too many words in the labels...so i took out some words. Sorry if you have trouble finding things.

Fruits and Veggies!

This month is Carrots and Cauliflower month, Grapefruit and kiwi month, Potatoes and Limes month, and Gifts from the Garden Month.
  So for all these we went to Fiddle Head Farms  (I love that place!)  and bought all those things! We also bought Fiddle heads...but not for a holiday, Just to try!
  I only have pictures right now of the grapefruit and Kiwi but if I take more I'll be sure to post them. Our cameras acting up right now so I may not be able to take pictures for a while but with any luck we'll solve the problem!

Tuesday 22 May 2012

National new friends old friends week

May 15th through 21st is National new friends old friends week.
My oldest friend I would have to say (Other than relatives) is Brittany. She's been my best friend since I was five and she was two! We go way back - hehee!
My newest friend I'd have to say is Carly...I've known of her existence for about a year but I've really only 'known' her (even her name) since January. We know from our Ballet recital but we are in a different class, she's a much better dancer than me!
Happy New friends old friends week!

Wakefeild Pride day

Wakefeild Pride day is a day just for the town of Wakefeild- it's the town right next to ours. We had two booths for pride day, one for Barely Harvest, and One for Abundant Blessings Homecare.  It was really fun-and hot! There were about 60 booths all together. Lions club had a booth, there was a dunking booth, petting zoo, a bunch of food venders, jewlery, etc. and there was a parade after lunch.
 There was even a Boys Club booth! today is Boys Club day! happy Boys Club day!
I don't have any pictures cause they were all downloaded onto my mom's computer... oh well! Happy Pride day!

Thursday 17 May 2012

Summer

Ok, So from now till the end of summer I'm not trying to do as many holidays as I can. I am aiming for one a day and if I get more than that done than yay! I have to be on the computer to do most of the holidays, and with the weather being so nice the last thing I want to do is be in the house on the computer. I'd much rather be training the dog or goofing off with the goats! I hope every one's ok with that.
I also have to apologize for the past week. I've done almost NO holidays- SORRY! I was dancing at a nursing home Thursday, Had a Ballet recital Saturday, then got an awful head cold, that is only now starting to leave! I know. I know. A bunch of excuses. But at least I have some reason right?  Don't abandon me for doing a bad job on my dedication! I'll keep it up...I don't give up that easily!

Happy (Second) Dance day

Mother Goose day

Where would we be without mother goose? Today's a day to remember the mother goose rhymes!
Here's a couple common ones I found online:

Little Bo peep has lost her sheep,
And can't tell where to find them;
Leave them alone, and they'll come home,
And bring their tails behind them.

Little Bo Peep Fell fast asleep,
And dreamt she heard them bleating;
But when she awoke, she found it a joke,
For they were still a-fleeting.

Then up she took her little crook,
Determined for to find them;
She found them indeed, but it made her heart bleed,
For they'd left their tails behind them.

Little Jack Horner
Sat in a corner,
Eating his Christmas pie.
He put in his thumb,
And pulled out a plum,
And said "What a good boy and I!"

A farmer went riding
 Upon his grey Mare;
Bumpety, Bumpety, Bump!
With his  daughter behind him,
so Rosy and fair;
Lumpety, Lumpety Lump!

A raven cried "Croak!"
And they all tumbled down;
Bumpety, Bumpety Bump!
The mare broke her knees,
the farmer his crown;
Lumpety, Lumpety, Lump!

The mischievous raven
Flew laughing away;
Bumpety, Bumpety, Bump!
He vowed he would serve them
 The same the next day;
Lumpety, Lumpety, Lump!

Babe Ruth day

I don't feel like writing something up on the day so I'm just going to eat a Baby Ruth!
Though I must say I did look up the Baby Ruth candy bar and found some thing interesting!
The candy bar is thought to be named after the baseball player Babe Ruth (right?),  but it was originally named after President Grover Cleveland's first daughter  'baby' Ruth  Cleveland!
 Oh well, happy Babe Ruth day any way!

Audubon day

It's named after John James Audubon, who painted the pictures for, and wrote, the book Birds of America.

Poem in Your Pocket day

Here is the poem I'm carrying in my pocket today:

By George MacDonald
1824-1905

I said "Let me walk in the fields."
He said "Nay, walk in town."
I said "there are no flowers there."
He said "no flowers but a crown."

I said "But the skies are black;
there is nothing but noise and din."
And he wept as he sent me back-
"There is more," He said; "There is sin."

I said "But the air is thick,
 And fogs are veiling the sun."
He answered "Yet souls are sick,
And souls in the dark undone!"

I said "I shall miss the light,
And friends will miss me, they say."
He answered 'Choose tonight
If I am to miss you or they."

I pleaded for time to be given.
He said "is it hard to decide?
It will not seem hard in heaven
To have followed the steps of your guide."

I cast one look at the fields,
Then set my face to town;
He said "my child do you yield?
Will you leave the flowers for the crown?"

Then into his hand went mine;
And into my heart came he:
And I walk in a light divine,
The path I had feared to see.

I took a poetry class once and we all had to memorize a poem: this is the one I chose to memorize. I really like it.

Hug and Australian day

I ACTUALLY found an Australian to hug! She's the mother of one of the students in my ballet class. She's not full Australian but she does have some Australian in her... and that's all that matters. Yesterday was Hug a plummer day and I wasn't able to find a plummer to hug. I thought the plummer one would be easier!
Sorry for the quality of the picture. It was taken on my mom's phone.

Okay, so today is my brother's twentieth birthday. I think it's okay to say that that's celebrating earth day seeing that his name is Forest! My mom had no idea that it was earth day when she named him!
Then to celebrate Jelly Bean day I gave Forest a bag of Jelly Beans for his birthday.
!Happy Birthday Forest!
