I was talking with my mom and I decided that I would spend the next year celebrating as many holidays and occurrences as possible. I think there are around 300 holidays a month!
My mom and I have always loved all the peculiar holidays and have had many laughs discussing them. I think this year will be a lot of fun but it will also require a lot of dedication, time, and it wont be without costs. I will give you once a week up dates once I get it started (Probably next month) and I will post daily journalings as often as possible. I have a feeling I will be rather busy.
I am home schooled which I believe will make this a whole heap easier, but also more challenging. Mom made an agreement with me... For this year I will use this as a lot of my school work. I will be writing reports on many of these days and I will be doing loads of research. I look forward to this coming year and I hope you will enjoy following my blog.
Feel free to post your comments along the way.

National Cherish and Antique day

Today I cherish Lydia. I know something has to be 100 years old to be considered an antique but I'm just cherishing Lydia. I got Lydia at a yard sale a couple years ago for a dollar. She has become one of my favorite dolls. I'm not a big doll person but I LOVE Lydia. She is really only 30 years old - exactly - But I'm using her for this anyway.

Jenkins' Ear day

The war of Jenkins' Ear started when one of Captain Robert Jenkins' ears were cut off by the sword of Juan de Leon Fandino in 1731. That happened just after Jenkins through a couple insults at Fandino, because Fandino accused Jenkins of breaking the trade laws and boarded Jenkins merchant ship - the Rebecca.
Jenkins brought his ear to British parliament where they decided that and a couple other incidents were enough to start a war with Spain. The war went from 1739 to 1741.
The war though never really ended. Instead of ending, the war - between Britain and Spain- became part of the war of the Austrian Succession- which is a topic for another day!
I hope you all - As I do - now know some thing new. I, for one, had no idea there was such a thing as the war of Jenkins' Ear.
