I was talking with my mom and I decided that I would spend the next year celebrating as many holidays and occurrences as possible. I think there are around 300 holidays a month!
My mom and I have always loved all the peculiar holidays and have had many laughs discussing them. I think this year will be a lot of fun but it will also require a lot of dedication, time, and it wont be without costs. I will give you once a week up dates once I get it started (Probably next month) and I will post daily journalings as often as possible. I have a feeling I will be rather busy.
I am home schooled which I believe will make this a whole heap easier, but also more challenging. Mom made an agreement with me... For this year I will use this as a lot of my school work. I will be writing reports on many of these days and I will be doing loads of research. I look forward to this coming year and I hope you will enjoy following my blog.
Feel free to post your comments along the way.

Audubon day

Audubon is the organization working to help and make know the oil spills, and protect and find homes for endangered birds.
It's named after John James Audubon, who painted the pictures for, and wrote, the book Birds of America.

Poem in Your Pocket day

Here is the poem I'm carrying in my pocket today:

By George MacDonald
1824-1905

I said "Let me walk in the fields."
He said "Nay, walk in town."
I said "there are no flowers there."
He said "no flowers but a crown."

I said "But the skies are black;
there is nothing but noise and din."
And he wept as he sent me back-
"There is more," He said; "There is sin."

I said "But the air is thick,
 And fogs are veiling the sun."
He answered "Yet souls are sick,
And souls in the dark undone!"

I said "I shall miss the light,
And friends will miss me, they say."
He answered 'Choose tonight
If I am to miss you or they."

I pleaded for time to be given.
He said "is it hard to decide?
It will not seem hard in heaven
To have followed the steps of your guide."

I cast one look at the fields,
Then set my face to town;
He said "my child do you yield?
Will you leave the flowers for the crown?"

Then into his hand went mine;
And into my heart came he:
And I walk in a light divine,
The path I had feared to see.

I took a poetry class once and we all had to memorize a poem: this is the one I chose to memorize. I really like it.

Hug and Australian day

I ACTUALLY found an Australian to hug! She's the mother of one of the students in my ballet class. She's not full Australian but she does have some Australian in her... and that's all that matters. Yesterday was Hug a plummer day and I wasn't able to find a plummer to hug. I thought the plummer one would be easier!
Sorry for the quality of the picture. It was taken on my mom's phone.

Take our Daughters and Sons to Work day
