I was talking with my mom and I decided that I would spend the next year celebrating as many holidays and occurrences as possible. I think there are around 300 holidays a month!
My mom and I have always loved all the peculiar holidays and have had many laughs discussing them. I think this year will be a lot of fun but it will also require a lot of dedication, time, and it wont be without costs. I will give you once a week up dates once I get it started (Probably next month) and I will post daily journalings as often as possible. I have a feeling I will be rather busy.
I am home schooled which I believe will make this a whole heap easier, but also more challenging. Mom made an agreement with me... For this year I will use this as a lot of my school work. I will be writing reports on many of these days and I will be doing loads of research. I look forward to this coming year and I hope you will enjoy following my blog.
Feel free to post your comments along the way.

Bugs Bunny Day

My sister and I watched a bunch of episodes of Bugs Bunny on You Tube today.I found this episode to be kind of interesting: Daffy For President   Enjoy!

Sorry!

I've not been as loyal to the holidays as I should. I'm finding as the weather gets nicer, and I'm feeling a little better, I'm not wanting to be inside on the computer. My mom's also not helping me as much as she was... unfortunately I have not done as many celebrations as I would like. Sorry.

Morse Code Day

For Morse Code day I wrote my Friend a letter in Morse Code. It says hardly any thing in it but the idea is cool! I think she'll enjoy deciphering it!

....  .-  .--. .--.  -.--   -- ---  .-. ... .    -.-.  --- -.. .    -..  .-  -.--   ..--.

Babe Ruth day

So today is Babe Ruth day, here's a link on the day.
I don't feel like writing something up on the day so I'm just going to eat a Baby Ruth!
Though I must say I did look up the Baby Ruth candy bar and found some thing interesting!
The candy bar is thought to be named after the baseball player Babe Ruth (right?),  but it was originally named after President Grover Cleveland's first daughter  'baby' Ruth  Cleveland!
Oh well, happy Babe Ruth day any way!

Brussels sprouts and Cabbage Month

Last night I made Chicken salad with purple cabbage in it, and Brussels Sprouts on the side.
I think celebrating this one was rather yummy!

Happy Brussels sprouts and Cabbage month!

A village named Matanzas, in Cuban, was bombed on April 27th, 1898. There was only one casualty....a mule!  The mule became famous at once and ended up in the history books!  Happy matanzas Mule day!

Audubon day

Audubon is the organization working to help and make know the oil spills, and protect and find homes for endangered birds.
It's named after John James Audubon, who painted the pictures for, and wrote, the book Birds of America.

Poem in Your Pocket day

Here is the poem I'm carrying in my pocket today:

By George MacDonald
1824-1905

I said "Let me walk in the fields."
He said "Nay, walk in town."
I said "there are no flowers there."
He said "no flowers but a crown."

I said "But the skies are black;
there is nothing but noise and din."
And he wept as he sent me back-
"There is more," He said; "There is sin."

I said "But the air is thick,
And fogs are veiling the sun."
He answered "Yet souls are sick,
And souls in the dark undone!"

I said "I shall miss the light,
And friends will miss me, they say."
He answered 'Choose tonight
If I am to miss you or they."

I pleaded for time to be given.
He said "is it hard to decide?
It will not seem hard in heaven
To have followed the steps of your guide."

I cast one look at the fields,
Then set my face to town;
He said "my child do you yield?
Will you leave the flowers for the crown?"

Then into his hand went mine;
And into my heart came he:
And I walk in a light divine,
The path I had feared to see.

I took a poetry class once and we all had to memorize a poem: this is the one I chose to memorize. I really like it.

Hug and Australian day

I ACTUALLY found an Australian to hug! She's the mother of one of the students in my ballet class. She's not full Australian but she does have some Australian in her... and that's all that matters. Yesterday was Hug a plummer day and I wasn't able to find a plummer to hug. I thought the plummer one would be easier!
Sorry for the quality of the picture. It was taken on my mom's phone.

Elise Island family History day

For Elise Island Family History day I read an article in the magazine Good Old Days from April 2001!
So it's a rather old Article but I still learned a bit about Elise Island!
Happy Elise Island Family History day!

Bat Appreciation day

Why Appreciate bats? Well, who likes mosquitoes? and moths? Without bats there would be a whole lot more of them around, and more, the two I listed aren't the only ones they eat! They help prevent many diseases that the blood sucking bugs carry.
Okay now, who likes Bananas? Peaches? how bout Almonds? Not all bats eat bugs, some eat fruit, and when they're eating the fruit they are actually pollinating. Certain fruits and nut trees can only be pollinated by bats. So without bats we'd have no Bananas, Peaches, almonds, and many more!
And these aren't the only reasons bats are awesome! Check out this website for more info on bats!
I appreciate bats.

National Haiku Poetry day

A Haiku poem is a three lined poem. The first line has five syllables the second has seven and then the last has five again!

Celebrating Holidays

Ford Mustang day

We had to celebrate this one yesterday cause our shop is open today so we couldn't leave the house.
So we went to a car dealer yesterday to check out a mustang. Dad was very excited at the chance to drive it! I was unimpressed with it, it's just a car! I would much rather ride Levi (Tracy's Mustang)! The car had a lot more gadgets than a saddle!
Happy Ford Mustang day!

World Wide Weekend of Prayer and Fasting

I didn't fast for the whole week end, I just fasted from dinner tonight. That still counts!

That Sucks day

My friend had to leave today to go back to NY, Now that REALLY SUCKS!

McDonald's day

My dad took me too McDonalds to get me some McNuggets. They were rather gross.I didn't even think they tasted edible so...I fed them to the dog....Sadie Loved them!
Sadie says, "Next I want a cheese burger with fries"!
I'm not sure why the McNugget's bag had this on it...I didn't order sausage!
Happy McDonald's day

My friend won (for a second time on her trip!) this one, she guessed closest!

International moment of Laughter day

So I had friends over, and played in the woods, After that we went to the beach ...We had a LOT of
moments of laughter. Going through my pictures I found two that we got on camera...
When we were headed back from the beach the dog was shivering so we put a shirt on her. We definitely laughed then, and it kept her warm too! (Sorry the pictures here didn't come out good at all!)
Then when Six of us tried to fit on our window seat and Sadie (the dog again) tried to join us we ALL laughed a good laugh! (this ones dark cause the light is behind it)
That silly dog sure does bring joy into our lives!

Scrabble day

Happy Scrabble day!
I got second place, My sister lost and, My friend from NY won!

Sorry

I haven't been posting much in the past couple days cause I've been spending my time with my friend who's visiting us. I also will admit while she was here I didn't celebrate all of the holidays on certain days. I did say in the beginning, though, that I would celebrate as many as possible...not them All. And I think spending time with my friend who I see maybe once a year is more important.
I will post now the ones I did do. I am sorry I have not kept up with the blogging.

WaLk on YOur WilD Side dAy

Okay, So Walk On Your Wild Side day I read That your supposed to be spontaneous and do something no one would expect.

We went out in the road to splash in puddles, dance, and be completely outrageous! None of the pictures came out good cause it's dark out, we were moving a lot, and My sister had a flashlight that put streaks through most of the pictures!

My brothers brought out glow in the dark bubbles that they got for Easter. The bubbles them selves didn't show up in the pictures but bottle was very bright!
We then did something very unpredictable and dumped the bubbles in the middle of the intersection! Though we have no pictures of that that came out any good.
We stomped in it! And made foot prints! We were Definitely on our wild side!
WooHoo! now go walk on your wild side!

I do love Licorice!

National Pet Month and Day

I wanted to put pictures of each of our pets on the blog for pet day, and I could put their pictures on here...but not today! I will list them though:
I have two birds - Zacchaeus (Or just Zach) my Cockatiel, and Levi my Parakeet. My brother has his dog - Sadie Blue. I have a kitten Lila Mae (Well she's actually two and a half but she's very small!). Then I have my goats (Yes they are pets!) Matilda, Annika, Pippi, and Faye...plus all the kids on the way! That rhymes.
For pet day and frog day my dad took me and my sister to the pet store. I got food for my birds and we looked around.
We then went over to the Dollar Tree and I bought cat collars for baby goats. Faye has a new hot pink collar...She look very good in pink!

Happy Frog Month!
There was this really cute bird at the pet store...I just had to put a picture of him on here! He cost a thousand something dollars!

National Farm Animals day

For Farm Animals day I'm posting a picture of my herd! The Palomino is Pippi, the baby is Faye, The black and white with her head up is Annika (Faye's momma), the black and white with her head down is Matilda (Tilly)! I'll have more kids soon...Tilly is due to kid any day now, I can't wait.

Safety Pin Day

Today we celebrate when the safety pin was invented. Here's how it was invented:
Apparently an inventor named Walter Hunt owed his friend fifteen dollars. He wanted to invent something to make a bit of money to pay his friend back. He invented things a lot but didn't usually make much money off of them. So he invented the safety pin, hoping to make enough to pay his friend. He made four hundred dollars off of his pins! He had plenty of money left over after paying his friend, and became famous for some thing we use daily!
Happy Safety Pin day!

Salvation Army Founders' day

William Booth is the founder of the Salvation Army, And when they wanted to make a Salvation Army founders' day they just chose his birthday!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MR. BOOTH!

National Siblings' Day

I bought my siblings each a candy stick (At our little shop!) for Siblings' day.
Siblings day is basically the same as mother's day or father's day just for siblings'! pretty simple!
Now go give your sibling a big hug...or write them a note, or an e-mail...

Library....Everything!

Emma with the gift!

Ok so today is Library day, April is National Library month, and the eighth through the fourteenth is National Library week...then to add to it today is also National Library Workers day! So I walked over to the Library - barefoot - to give these little goody bags to the library workers. They were very happy!

One Day Without Shoes

this is the last day without shoes...for a while anyway.
I hope everyone is aware, now, of all the millions of kids that have to live life with nothing to protect their feet?
