I was talking with my mom and I decided that I would spend the next year celebrating as many holidays and occurrences as possible. I think there are around 300 holidays a month!
My mom and I have always loved all the peculiar holidays and have had many laughs discussing them. I think this year will be a lot of fun but it will also require a lot of dedication, time, and it wont be without costs. I will give you once a week up dates once I get it started (Probably next month) and I will post daily journalings as often as possible. I have a feeling I will be rather busy.
I am home schooled which I believe will make this a whole heap easier, but also more challenging. Mom made an agreement with me... For this year I will use this as a lot of my school work. I will be writing reports on many of these days and I will be doing loads of research. I look forward to this coming year and I hope you will enjoy following my blog.
Feel free to post your comments along the way.

May First

I've survived a month of Holidays! It was a long month. I will try to do better this month than I did last month!

National Dance day

Here's another dance day! My sister and I Practiced for our movie today and did more ballet practice and warm up stretches.
Happy (Second) Dance day

Mother Goose day

Where would we be without mother goose? Today's a day to remember the mother goose rhymes!
Here's a couple common ones I found online:

Little Bo peep has lost her sheep,
And can't tell where to find them;
Leave them alone, and they'll come home,
And bring their tails behind them.

Little Bo Peep Fell fast asleep,
And dreamt she heard them bleating;
But when she awoke, she found it a joke,
For they were still a-fleeting.

Then up she took her little crook,
Determined for to find them;
She found them indeed, but it made her heart bleed,
For they'd left their tails behind them.

Little Jack Horner
Sat in a corner,
Eating his Christmas pie.
He put in his thumb,
And pulled out a plum,
And said "What a good boy and I!"

A farmer went riding
 Upon his grey Mare;
Bumpety, Bumpety, Bump!
With his  daughter behind him,
so Rosy and fair;
Lumpety, Lumpety Lump!

A raven cried "Croak!"
And they all tumbled down;
Bumpety, Bumpety Bump!
The mare broke her knees,
the farmer his crown;
Lumpety, Lumpety, Lump!

The mischievous raven
Flew laughing away;
Bumpety, Bumpety, Bump!
He vowed he would serve them
 The same the next day;
Lumpety, Lumpety, Lump!

Bugs Bunny Day

My sister and I watched a bunch of episodes of Bugs Bunny on You Tube today.I found this episode to be kind of interesting: Daffy For President   Enjoy!

Sorry!

I've not been as loyal to the holidays as I should. I'm finding as the weather gets nicer, and I'm feeling a little better, I'm not wanting to be inside on the computer. My mom's also not helping me as much as she was... unfortunately I have not done as many celebrations as I would like. Sorry.

Morse Code Day

For Morse Code day I wrote my Friend a letter in Morse Code. It says hardly any thing in it but the idea is cool! I think she'll enjoy deciphering it!

....  .-  .--. .--.  -.--   -- ---  .-. ... .    -.-.  --- -.. .    -..  .-  -.--   ..--.

Babe Ruth day

So today is Babe Ruth day, here's a link on the day.
I don't feel like writing something up on the day so I'm just going to eat a Baby Ruth!
Though I must say I did look up the Baby Ruth candy bar and found some thing interesting!
The candy bar is thought to be named after the baseball player Babe Ruth (right?),  but it was originally named after President Grover Cleveland's first daughter  'baby' Ruth  Cleveland!
 Oh well, happy Babe Ruth day any way!

Brussels sprouts and Cabbage Month

Last night I made Chicken salad with purple cabbage in it, and Brussels Sprouts on the side.
I think celebrating this one was rather yummy!

 Happy Brussels sprouts and Cabbage month!

Matanzas Mule day

A village named Matanzas, in Cuban, was bombed on April 27th, 1898. There was only one casualty....a mule!  The mule became famous at once and ended up in the history books!  Happy matanzas Mule day!

Audubon day

Audubon is the organization working to help and make know the oil spills, and protect and find homes for endangered birds.
It's named after John James Audubon, who painted the pictures for, and wrote, the book Birds of America.

Poem in Your Pocket day

Here is the poem I'm carrying in my pocket today:

By George MacDonald
1824-1905

I said "Let me walk in the fields."
He said "Nay, walk in town."
I said "there are no flowers there."
He said "no flowers but a crown."

I said "But the skies are black;
there is nothing but noise and din."
And he wept as he sent me back-
"There is more," He said; "There is sin."

I said "But the air is thick,
 And fogs are veiling the sun."
He answered "Yet souls are sick,
And souls in the dark undone!"

I said "I shall miss the light,
And friends will miss me, they say."
He answered 'Choose tonight
If I am to miss you or they."

I pleaded for time to be given.
He said "is it hard to decide?
It will not seem hard in heaven
To have followed the steps of your guide."

I cast one look at the fields,
Then set my face to town;
He said "my child do you yield?
Will you leave the flowers for the crown?"

Then into his hand went mine;
And into my heart came he:
And I walk in a light divine,
The path I had feared to see.

I took a poetry class once and we all had to memorize a poem: this is the one I chose to memorize. I really like it.

Hug and Australian day

I ACTUALLY found an Australian to hug! She's the mother of one of the students in my ballet class. She's not full Australian but she does have some Australian in her... and that's all that matters. Yesterday was Hug a plummer day and I wasn't able to find a plummer to hug. I thought the plummer one would be easier!
Sorry for the quality of the picture. It was taken on my mom's phone.

Take our Daughters and Sons to Work day

My parents both work at home...there for I'm always at work, So my parents don't have to do much to bring their kids to work with them.
Happy Take our Daughters and Sons to Work day!
